New Study on Homebirth in the U.S.

The Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) has just released the results of two studies regarding home births in the United States. Close to 17,000 planned home births were included in the study. There are some interesting stats coming out of it. A few highlights:

-A c-section rate of 5.2% (U.S. national average is 31%)

-Only 1% of babies required transfer to the hospital after birth

-Almost 98% of the mothers were breastfeeding at six weeks postpartum
